Alternative Dispute Resolution in Family Law
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a method of resolving family law matters in a fair, efficient, and respectful manner without litigation. Clients can choose ADR to resolve all types of family law issues, including divorce, separation, partnership dissolution, child custody, child and spousal support, property division, premarital and post-nuptial agreements, and co-habitation agreements. ADR offers clients the opportunity to participate fully in the dispute resolution process and to create solutions that take into account the goals and interests that they themselves identify as important to their own families. ADR permits clients to move through the dispute resolution process with dignity and respect both for themselves and for the others involved. ADR avoids the hostility, bitterness, and loss of control that inevitably accompany litigation. ADR methods include collaborative practice, mediation, cooperative negotiation, and settlement conferences.
